In a unexpected partnership that defies traditional predictions, the game developer has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the official release, "A mysterious confrontation pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of banned rituals and terrifying transformations reverberate through the darkness." The plot presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine group.
The adventure concentrates on "bizarre tests and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Transformations
The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Additional Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an special katana alongside multiple objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Content
This patch also adds the game's third free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
