Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing wind gusts topping 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Broad Destruction
Locals observed large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Utility workers were working to restore energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews deployed to address the extensive power failures.
Victorian Storm Challenges
At the same time, approximately one thousand energy customers in Victoria also faced power outages after the capital city experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations received over five hundred calls for help across the state, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

During the peak on yesterday, over 28k electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with ongoing severe weather risk anticipated across multiple regions of both states.
Safety Concern
Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the current weather patterns.
