It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to go out there and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

Those words will be the last competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
