Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can expect learning which characters will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
